Speak to your children like (nineteeth century) adults

In the dropoff line at school this morning...

Me: "Work hard and be good. I'll see you tonight."

Firstborn: "You always say that."

Me: "Very well, lad. Strive for excellence, and mind your manners; for verily, I shall behold your visage upon my return this evening."

Firstborn: {closes car door}
